For more than 20 years, the Women's Success Network has been providing scholarships to women who want to advance or change their careers through education and training. The Women's Success Network Founders Scholarship Fund (formerly the Elizabeth J. Wajer Scholarship), honors the small group of insightful women who gathered in the spring of 1985 and committed their time and energy to help WSN grow and thrive.
The scholarship is funded through the sale of raffle tickets at our monthly meetings, the donations of WSN members and other fundraising efforts. Each year, through an application process, individuals are asked to demonstrate their needs, define their goals and explain how the money would be used.
Press releases are sent out to all area newspapers in February to announce the application process. A scholarship committee is formed each year to review the applications and vote on the recipients. The scholarships are then awarded at our June dinner meeting.
In conjunction with the Women's Success Network Founders Scholarship Fund, Dean College and Fisher College also sponsor a specific award for non-traditional student applicants who plan to attend Dean or Fisher either on a full or part-time basis.
Help Another Woman Advance Herself
Amy Azza, WSN Scholarship Coordinator, announces that the scholarship committee will begin accepting applications for the WSN Founders' Scholarships. Women who are looking to change their careers or update their skill base by taking college or other classes, for example, can apply for a scholarship from January 15 through April 13.
Action item: If you know someone who wants to move into the next, professional phase of her life but needs some help, tell her about the WSN scholarships.
